I havn't targeted catfish on the DuPage river, but was wondering if anyone has caught them. I know there are dams along the river & always wondered if catfish were stocked. I did see lots of carp, but no catfish. If you have caught catfish on the Dup, let me know. Thanks.

Ive seen smaller ones while out there this year.

I did see one that was a good 10lbs+ floating downstream after a HUGE rain. This was the last weekend of August.

They're in there.

Theres plenty of cats in there. Was fishing one of the small spill over type dams by the half-day preserves with minnows for smallies and pulled 2 cats in the 2-3lb range. Id imagine if u drifted some livers below the dams you could get even more.

I am just itchin to get back out there. Everytime I drive over the bridge i just want to pull over & start casting. The river is actually flowing pretty heavy right now. There hasn't been ice by me in over a week.

I've never fished for em but an ol' timre comes to the channahon dam and catches channel cats pretty regularly.

Good luck.

I think the best times to cat catfish is in the AM between 6-10 AM or late evening after dark. Howver they bite all day.

Would love to target cats in the dupage with you Grigger. Just PM me before you go.

Kyle

Jeff,

While the construction was going on downtown naperville i would chum the water in the early am and return at about 11pm and pull 4-8 lb cats out almost every night, This was right under the newly built bridge try it some time some rotten shrimp and corn does wonders!

I have had success below the dam in the State Park in Channahon.I have caught them on Liver, Nightcrawlers,Minnows/shad, Leaches. When I fish there, most of the time I use a slip bobber to keep the bait just above the bottom.I have caught some decent Smallmouth, crappie, bullhead, bluegill,Largemouth there.

Hey, does the DuPage have any sort of a walleye population?

Think any stretches in particular would have a few of them?
