Finally got to hit the water Weds 7/16-launched @ Alsip around 2:30 p.m., fished till 7:00. Hit all the usual spots-Skippers, the boat club, Dolton. Boated probably 12 fish, but all 12-13". One exception a bass pushing 3Lbs on a buzzbait!!!!!!! Got her by the sewer or whatever that is across from Skippers-on the end of one of the slabs laying in the water-what a shock! Best bite came on a Berkley 6" red shad Powerbait-Tournament Strength worm. Snagged a jumbo carp @ Dolton, but never got to see the fish. Sure these fish ain't monsters but it's always a thrill to feel the tick, see the line jump and set the hook! Lots of big cruiser traffic that day-their wakesmuddied up the water up river bad and shut things down. Oh well, it is a canal.

Sounds like you had a pretty good day. We've seen some of those carp in the harbor and they look like torpedos.

It was a good day even though I am getting burned out on the river-only x amount of areas seem to produce consistently. Been fishing out there for ten years now and can't seem to locate the bigger bass after the spawn. :?
