The lakefront is pretty torn up so we decided to take a walk with the pooch around our local lagoon. The wind was whipping around, but the sun was out. I was reminded that this was more of a walk than a fishing trip so I knew I didn't have much time to find fish.

We stopped by a few holes and nothing. Probably too windy. We kept walking and found a relatively protected little cove. Casting small plastics under a float with the wind did the trick. They were not monsters by any means, but the action was quick for February. 5 black crappie in about 40 minutes will scratch the itch any day.

Thanks Tom. I even outfished the guys who started fishing right next to me and they had minnows.


I guess it used to be a pretty decent bass lagoon until that nasty freeze off a couple of winters ago. Now the place is overrun with carp and crappies.

That lagoon has pretty nice crappies. I have a co-worker who fishes there all the time.

There are definitely some slabs in there. Tons of dinks too. I know some people keep them, but I'm not sure if I'd want to eat anything from there.
