Last week I was going to go fishing with FishnD up at Lake Delavan. After looking at the storm reports we decided to stay local. We hit up a pond via canoe and landed 7 LM total with D getting the largest and the best in numbers. The rain was cold, really cold and of course once we put the canoe back on the truck it was back to clear skies. Go figure.

All fish were caught on Rat-traps in bright patterns (Firetire etc) on yo-yo retrive. It seemed once the line slacked they slammed it. Temp on top was 53.

Today I hit the fox. We scouted an area Monday night for walleye only to get a one cat for the effort. We scared up a lot of fish and it was not easy finding holes in the dark. So today I went back for a quickie and was rewarded with the pre-scout.

He came on a knuckle-head with an orange beetle spin body attached. I have gotten a few this way. Its a new set up, and it is proving to be productive.

I snagged once I freed it - fish on.

Good luck out there..

As cold and wet as it was.. it was the lack of remembering water proof gloves that put the hurt on. Everything else was doable.

We figured a trip up north, 3 am start, rain, wet boat, drying it out.. just too much of a pain. Stayed close, and it paid off.

I hope to bring some more fox reports... the night walleye bite is in "seek" mode.

For sure. Especially at this time of year.
