Made it out last night with my son and a friend. Water is down to 58 degrees. Bite was slow. Had large live baits out, gills and suckers. Hit the usual spots and was starting to wonder if the Flats were still on the prowl at this temp. We were talking about making this the last night trip of the year since we had baits in the water for about two hours and not a bite to show. Around 10pm my buddies reel ticked twice then nothing, he set the clicker but didn't open the free spool and about a minute later the rod was bent over. After a nice fight and several good runs caused by his headlight we landed a monster 32 pounder. About ten minutes later his other rod went off and my son boated a 4 pounder which could have been eaten by the first fish. We got off he water just before midnight. BTW both fish CPR. Will post pics when my buddy sends them.

Good luck

tony

You have got to be kidding me, my cousin and I tried for 2 weekends at the fox with a lot of hours put in and nothing to show. Whats the secret?

Thanks for the compliments!
Bowser I would guess it's mostly luck. Me and the guy in the pic have plucked a few monster in the last two years. The only thing I can say for sure is double the size of your bait. The biggest three have been 50ish, the scale we had only went to 35 pounds, a 26 and the 32. The 50ish came on a sucker that was about 14 inches. The 32 was on a 8 inch gill. We also use smaller baits and they usually catch flats in the 4-12 pound range. BTW I'm still waiting for my monster. My buddies always end up with the big one. My personal best on the Fox is 9-10.
