It is an old, probably half dead gar that has lost his teeth.
Or maybe it was a dogfish.
Yeah, I think that's a dogfish.
If we could see its dorsal fin and tale we could be certain.

Any usually likes the bottom bite for the rough fish ....while I target the game fish. :bear

It was a great day soaking in the Gar infested river.
Overall we caught at least a couple dozen Gar...luckily most freed themselves.
A couple of cats,about a dozen White Bass,an unidentified carp species,smallmouth,largemouth,
and a Gill.

Ya but that doesn't look like one of those footlong, bait stealin' greenies. That one looks kinda thick. Looks like night fishing isn't the only way to beat the heat. Thanks for the show.
