Hit the only open water I could find today for a few hours. Found 2 healthy winter Smallmouth willing to eat a big Golden Roach a few feet under a slip-float. This is the smaller one:
Image
The bigger one's piucture mysteriously never made it onto the memory card of my camera.

*note to self, just because the camera beeps at you when you press the capture button doesn't mean it took the picture. Sometimes it means your card is full...... :x

Also found a nice hole holding an infinite number of hand sized bluegills, longears, and pumpkinseeds. They readily ate a 1/64 oz. ant-type ice jig with or without a T-boned waxie.

All fish Catch and Release, with only the occasional sorry looking, mooshy, Bass Pro Shops excuse for a waxworm making the ultimate sacrifice today.

Water Temp: 0 to 3 deg. C.
Air Temp: 2 to 4 deg. C.
Wind: N/NW 5 to 10 knots
Clarity: < 1 meter
Location: 78.3 Kilometers from Watertower Place
Equipment: Spinning Lite action, 6 lb. test, slip float, #6 red Octopus hook, black ice jig, Golden Roaches, waxworms.

*I almost forgot, if you look on the upper/center left side of the pic, you can see the remains of a mouse that this bass was puking up when I brought her in. That's also half digested mouse on my thumb in the fishes mouth.......

I'm gonna have to look for some of those .443 gram ant-type ice jigs. :D

Nice job Ed!

Marc, did you notice how these Marine types give locations? We may need to have a block of instruction from Fishead Mike on Map reading at one of our outings.

Nice feeesh SpecialEd.

I didn't think anyone else noticed Monk. He could have thrown everyone off by making it 78.3 clicks from Watertower place.

Should we build a conversion chart? :D

A mile equals to 5280 feet. 1 foot = 0.3048 meter. The "mile" and the "nautical mile" are two different units. A nautical mile equals to 1852 meters.

1 Kilometer = Mile 0.621371192237334

Hope this helps.

PS Nice fish
