twade, your issue was different, you were inactive to log and the site thought you left.

To get that to stop just hit the preview button every one in a while to let the site know you still love it

Everyone else that is having problems, it's you local security settings in your browers.

If you guys will post what exactly happens when you try to access the site it would help.

:rotflmao You know me. Can't have my fellow anglers not able to access the site. :winker

Twade, yeah I figured that was what happened to ya. BTW June 2nd is gonna be a blast. As we get closer let me know what is most needed.

sthacker6, are you having problems getting to any other sites on the wifi? Have you tried a "ping"? Not knowing your experience level it's kinda hard to give "quick" advice. What version of windows/apple do you have at home? If you have a smartphone that can connect to your wifi can it connect to chitown-angler.com? If you would like feel free to shoot me a PM instead of blowing up this post with troubleshooting. Or just post back whichever works for you. I don't work for the site I'm just a fan! :respect

If you want to use this thread it's cool, others may be able to learn something from it.

Thanks again D

That's why you get the big bucks. :winker

Sthacker6, Sorry it took so long to get back with you. Are you having problems getting to any other sites? Do you have a smartphone or another computer (laptop) that you can connect to your wifi to see if you can access the site from any of those devices?

Why don't you try a ping and let us know the results.
A ping just sends a small package to the address (chitown-angler.com) and then gets a small one back (ping-pong get it?)

To perform a ping just open up the start button in windows either:
XP: open start button. Choose "run". type the word "cmd". Hit enter. This will open a command prompt window. Once that's open just type the word "Ping" then space once and type the words "chitown-angler.com".

win 7: almost the same except you don't choose run. When you hit the start button there's a box that reads "search programs and files" Just type the word "cmd" and hit enter. from there on it's the same.

An example of a "ping" command from one of my boxes. NOTE: type what's in bold.

C:\Users\Dennis>ping chitown-angler.com

Pinging chitown-angler.com [66.34.129.63] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 66.34.129.63: bytes=32 time=48ms TTL=49
Reply from 66.34.129.63: bytes=32 time=47ms TTL=49
Reply from 66.34.129.63: bytes=32 time=48ms TTL=49
Reply from 66.34.129.63: bytes=32 time=46ms TTL=49

Ping statistics for 66.34.129.63:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 46ms, Maximum = 48ms, Average = 47ms

C:\Users\Dennis>

Notice the 66.34.129.63? That's the actual IP address of chitown-angler.com If you don't have that address let us know.

Notice the four lines that say "Reply from 66.34.129.63: bytes=32 time=46ms TTL=49" or similar? Those are the replies (or pongs) from chitown-angler.com.
There are several other messages that could appear. Here are a couple.

1. "Ping request could not find host schitown-angler.com. Please check the name and
try again."
Double check your typing if you typed "chitown-angler.com" and it can't find it try typing "ping 66.34.129.63"
2. "Request timed out."
This will occur if it can't find the address at all. If you get this try both typing in the name "chitown-angler.com" and then "66.34.129.63"

If you see any other address or any other messages let us know what that is. I promise I'll keep a better eye on the post. :respect

dylanapollo, I stopped by Salmon Stop East and looked at their new laptop. I tried both firefox and IE and couldn't hit the site. I did all the regular staff, added it to trusted sites and blah..... blah.....blah.

I couldn't get in so I thought I had an issue with the site.

Got home and installed all the nw browsers and I have no problem hitting the site.

I can't figure out what's with their machine.

Wow I do know that folks dns' have been hijacked in the past and that has caused some DNS issues. Maybe I can get them to allow me on their system to do a couple checks. You know the dnschanger virus is one such malware. I'll shoot Lori a PM and see if their willing. :thanks

Yes, we have At&t. I also upgraded my personal laptop to windows 9 and now I can't get on my favorite fishing site either! Apollo, when I get a chance, you can remote my personal laptop, we'll see if it works. Mom is going to be nervous about doing it on big lap top, she doesn't understand this computer stuff and is afraid she's gunna loose important stuff, but I will talk to her and let you know. Thank you so much for the help!! I really appreciate it!

I completely understand the nervousness Lori. I deal with it practically everyday. That's one of the things I do to set myself apart from others. I care about the data not just getting the system back to it's working state. I'm not planning any big trips away from the house for the next few days so give me a call when you get a few minutes. You will of course be able to watch everything I do.

Now get out there and sell some bait so I can read some reports!

I'm getting nervous about this whole Windows 9 thing. Did you get your copy of Windows 9 from an old man with white hair in a Delorean? Does this mean the fishing sites will not be around when Windows 9 is developed and released in the future? Ohhhh :nononono!

Sorry, but I couldn't resist. I'm sure you mean Internet Explorer 9. :rotflmao

Well there is a common theme with AT&T.

Could the folks having issues please get their IP's and PM them to me.

@Dynapollo: I'm sure you thought of this, but if not and it's an AT&T DNS issue that cannot get resolved easily for some obscure reason, set it up in the hosts file on Lorie's computer for a quick fix.

Patient, thanks for the suggestion. I will check it out. I've had my dns setup on the att servers for the last few days and have had no problem yet. I'll have to traceroute and see which hole their falling down. :?

I switched my home ISP from AT&T DSL to AT&T Uverse three days ago. After I switched, I can no longer access the chitown website thru my new wifi home network. I don't have any problem with other websites, chitown is the only one site I can't access. I tried in four different machines and none of them can access the chitown site.( two laptops, my iphone and ipad). If I turn my iphone's wifi off and use my phone's data plan, I have no problem access the website. I don't think there is any software problem, safari's or problem IE's problem. I also tried to ping the website from my labtop and got no problem. Everything looks good and just can't get to the chitown website from my home's wifi network. The only thing I can think of is some how the chitown hosting doesn't like my new IP address from AT&T Uverse and blocking it. Anybody know how to get a new IP? I tried to shut down my gateway for 8 hours and couldn't get a new IP from AT&T.
