Sort of thinking about getting a digital video camera... BUT I want it to be able to accept analog inputs, like from my MarCum fish camera. Now the hard part. $300.00 - $400.00 price range. Can it be done? Still shot capability would be nice too so I don't need to carry both.

Andy,

For that price range you are looking at a MiniDV camera. Look at the Sony ZR9x0 line of cameras. They can do everything that you are asking for. The manual for them is here http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/0300000756/zr900-930nim-en.pdf. I have an early version of this camera and it is what I have used to put up the videos that I have on this site. One very input thing does your PC have firewire? Very important for uploading the videos to your PC.

Some day I am thinking of upgrading to HD but what will have to wait until a few other items are taken care of first.

Mark, as I have no clue what firewire is and it is a nearly 3 year old basic no frills Dell I would guess it doesn't

I would argue the other way, there is a good chance that it does support firewire. A quick check of the manual will confirm this. This support is only needed if you plan on updating the videos to your PC. Are you planning on doing that?

There would a few that I would upload to my PC. Not often but once in a while I can see me doing that. I'll have to dig out the manual to see.

I checked those out through the Circuit City web site and it says they don't have analog input. I think that's what I need to record from one of those underwater veiwing systems like the Aqua-Vu and MarCum ones.
