There was an explosion at the sewage treatment plant on the Kankakee River this morning. Media outlets were reporting an estimated 1.5 million gallons of sludge got into the river.

The plant is a few miles upstream of the state park.

EPA. Was on scene apparently qucikly. I imagine testing is being done.
