I fished the area right at the Chicago street bridge. I brought my waders but there was no way, it was high and moving fast. From the pad underneath the bridges I was able to flip to the pillars and some slack water areas to pick up some little smallmouth, the fatheads I was using were almost bigger than a couple of them I landed. Under the bridge there is a pool of real slack water that was just bubbling with bait fish. I tried to get a good picture but they all sucked. If I had a net I could have scooped at least 20 or 30 lbs of bait, it was insane!

Once the dink bite stopped I hopped in the car and hit a pond in West Chicago. The action was pretty steady but again all dinks.

On the ride back to the House I stopped and walked the Dupe right off the West Branch and picked up a real nice warmouth and a largemouth then called it a day.

It was a good day of catching but when the a warmouth is the biggest fish you really don't have much to brag about.

Everything was caught on fatheads behind a split shot. A couple times a float hit the water and produced fish too, it was a good day to get out!

Those little Smallies are really after the bait right now I guess. Next week should be a lot better for us. Those temps ought to be coming up and everybody should get a little more active... I hope. Thanks for the report. Now I don't feel so bad about not getting out there today.

I s'pose a couple smallies and a warmouth isn't much, but in perspective I worked 14 hours last night, the same tonight and again tomorrow night. said and resaid, but true enough.. a bad day fishing is better than any good day at work.

unless of course one hasn't any work to get ot...

Keep up the time on the water, and be carefull.

I thought you forgot where the Fox was.

Weird, today I hit the Fox in Montgomery then the DuPage down in Shorewood. Stopped at a pond outside of Shorewood, but chose not to fish it.

That's a little creepy, especially since I haven't seen a fishing report like this from you in a long time. Cue theme song from Twilight Zone.

Down my way on the Fox you'd be hard pressed to find bait fish anywhere. Didn't see much last year and not seeing much so far this year. Usually it's like what you described. Even the ditch I used to seine minnows from was for the first time ever completely devoid of minnows. Maybe they all moved north.

Today was the first of many Ken. I'm going to get in the water a lot more this season after work. I forgot how much fun it was and how much I missed it.

One of the ponds I hit was the one you, Jaime and I hit by the airport.

Dink central.

I did manage to pick up two decent size bags of trash while I was there too.

DWF..... never mind :D

I had to pinch myself when I saw you posted a fishing report Marc!

J/K

Glad you got out, it will be a banner year on the flows this year. Lots of fish in the water, and we should finally get good periods of stable weather patterns.

Bets of luck to you, and I hope to see you on the water.

Kinda make ya feel like a kid again don't it? Glad to see ya got out. Look forward to hearing more adventures from you. I don't know about anybody else, but I would have loved to see a picture of that big warmouth. 8)~

I got one word of advice for you that will make things even better.

Creeks.

Somewhere in my picture archives dating back 7 or 8 years are shots of Marc wading the Fox.
Far as I know, that was the last time he was there.

great report, thanks for sharing!

Warmer temps coming, hopefully this will be first of many. A lot of guys gotta be getting the itch to hit the water in search of whatever...

LOL.... you are such a knob!

Working right on top of the Fox will make it easier now. I've got a reall good picture of you fishing the mouth of that creek.

I was just good getting out Shawn. By the end of the week with the warming temps everything should start waking up. I'm keeping all the gear in the truck this year. I figure I can skip dinner once or twice a week and fish, god only knows I could live off my stored fat :D

Could be a new form of dieting
