Went out this morning for a couple hours around the Batavia area to do a little wading. Fish were cooperating. Landed five chunky smallies in a couple hours. Was using ultra lite spinning gear, split shot, #4 octopus hook with medium roaches. Fish were relating to ouside seams closer to shore. (Couple pics posted below)

At one point I was casting into this eddy and kept getting stikes but every time I would try to set the hook got nothing but air, bait stripped from the hook. After several tries I finally was able to make the conversion. I was a little startled by the fishes power, it felt huge. It pulled so hard I took two steps forward to maintain ballance. Within three seconds it was all over, fish was gone.

Probably a big catfish. Oh well thats how it goes. Thats the thing about fishing the river. Ya just never know what your going hook into to.

Gotta love it. Great day to get out!

Nice fish, had to be fun on the UL rod. Don't forget to start checking those slack water spots on the fox for some great action on the ice. 8)~

You sure get around T-bo. Thanks for the report! :D

P.S. Does the Fox really flow uphill? Wasn't sure from the first pic- I'm a little dizzy anyway-

I thought the same thing about you Bruce. Your everywhere man. I know the photo is kinda goofy huh. Its a challenge though to snap a pic holding your rod while waist high in pushing water. Maybe no one will recognize the spot. I gotta get some photo editing software.
