went out twards the river yesterday at about 2pm down from the dam. First cast i pulled out a 6lb smallie huge off of a minnow and a slip bobber. than re-casted it out and casted my twister tail and pulled a 17inch walleye very pretty heathy and very delicious. no pic of em but do have the pics of the smallies and will be put up asap........ but i did get a few more smallies about 2-4 lbs biggest smallies that ive caught all year.

then went out today at about 8am and only pulled out one smallie about 2.5 lbs and 2 little walleyes about 13 and 14 inches but were released..........same set up as the day before.......

6lb smallmouth? That's huge dude! Especially for a river smallie. Congrats! Did ya get a scale on it? I thought the state record smallmouth was still 6lbs, 7oz. That is unless this Dupage River smallie counts.

I know exactly where you are fishing. I have been fishing there for 15 years. I have never seen a smallie that big taken from that location. U were fishing with a bobber there? Its like the colorado river by the break wall it must have been hard to control. Hope you can get the pic because I would love to see that fish. Thanks for the report.

Promised my 11 year old son I would take him fishing this weekend. I had to go to Gander Mountain for bait and thought I would try to find a spot to fish in Batavia instead of retracing my steps and fishing south of the house (Aurora). Can someone point me in the right direction? looking for somewhere park and fish from shore and or wade.

I know that spot also...I've caught many smallmouths there with the minnow and bobber setup on the break, but nothing that big. Would love to see the pic also.
