Was at Batavia the last few days. Nothing biting. The warm weather has been no good. But I can tell if you head north of st. charles area I have been doing great with walleye. Did very well Momday night out by the river boat in elgin. Batavia has not been the spot this year for walleye. We as of so far. Where are you coming from? maybe I can point you in a more specific direction

the stretch between St. Charles and the Elgin casino have been very good to me the past few days. The smallmouth bite was great by the boat with a few walleyes mixed in between. The walleye should be turning on again in the next few days as long as this cold sticks around. Will be out sunday maybe I will see you out there. Good Luck.

Ya might blow a call into Batavia Bait & Tackle - 630-879-1302.

Don't most walleyes on the Fox get caught down near Montgomery?

Hello,

I live in Yorkville. Where in Montgomery are you catching walleye? Also, what would you use in terms of bait. I'd like to get out Sunday weather permitting.

Thanks.

I'm no expert. Maybe by the bridge south of the dam? Jig and twister tail? Minnow? KenG are ya out there?

If ya take a look at that stretch on google earth, there is what ya might call a funnel, south of the dam, north of the Mill Street bridge. Looks like a nice current break on either bank right there. Might be worth checking out, no?

Just drive down to the Kankankee River and they are biting by the I55 bridge and if you get off on the left side you can get boat access for a premier spot on the river for eyes. If you feel like driving a bit just head down to Ottawa and fish the bridge (mouth of Fox) and up a little bit. There's a 20' hole that holds them. If you really want to drive you get put your boat in at Henry and head down river and fish the snatch for Sauger on the Illinois.

Sounds like the Fox Chain is where it's at in IL for walleye right now.

might pick up with the full moon comin along... the water has cooled off significantly over the past week or so as well, which the fish might just have to adjust to.

That the same thing I was thinking. Hopefully they just need to get used to the cooler temps again. Before that warm spell I was hammering them but nothing really since. Your talk about going out tonight is giving me the itch. Maybe I will have to hit the river tonight.

ya im hopin the river and weather cooperate enough to let me get out there Thing is... even on unproductive nights with no fish or 1 fish I'm finding out more and more about the river and ruling out more and more areas not to fish. we'll see what happens, i just hope i don't make the hike and not be able to get in the water... i noticed on the flow charts that the river is movin a little bit more than it has been the past couple weeks. we'll see though!
