Got a chance to float down the Fox from Sheridan Monday night.

Got to our spot with the rental inflatable pontoon boats below a bridge at around 8:00 Pm and started soaking LARGE suckers tailhooked with sureset trebles & modified large dropshot slipsinker rigs.

Had a total of 5 hits by 4:00 Am and landed 3 flatheads from 7 to 17 lbs & 1 bluecat at 15 pounds.

Then floated 4 miles downstream to the Rt. 52 bridge to pull our Scadden float/pontoon boats out.

It was my first flathead trip and for sure not my last! :)

Hi Kevin,

Man I hate to admit it but it truly is a RUSH when you feel that "THUD" then nothing for a few seconds and all 3 flatheads very slowly swam away and you have NO IDEA what size the fish is till you set the hook. Especially since I was using 8 to 14 inch suckers!

One thing for sure you know it's no dink!

Interestingly, I felt the 15 LB blue cat put up a much longer & vicious fight than the 17 lb flathead?

God willing & with the wife's approval I will try it again this Sunday after closing the shop at 4:00.

Well I also got a 10 1/2 pound blue below the dam at Lake Holiday about 3 weeks ago too!

I smoked it and gave samples to my customers and they liked it better than my smoked king salmon!

Smurf's I love it. If the anal fin is round it's a channel, if it's staright it's a blue. Picture is far away looks rounded. I hope there are blues in the Fox, would be neat if we had more places to fish for them. Maybe somebody is stocking them out of Lasalle. By the way Lance congrats on a fun night.

The anal fin was straight with sharper corners or edges at ends.
