After lurking around in the creeks lately, got a chance to get out and try my luck on the "big water" after much too long away. All the high water this year has been a bummer, but the levels and flows are back to more manageable wading numbers.

Figured I pick up some action before the front coming through last night, and did okay. Managed 12 smallmouth in a little over an hour or so, and lost half as much, with a good amount of strikes. Nothing of any decent size, but it was fun.

The water's still fairly murky, so if it clears a bit more it should help the fish see the bait better and help the catching. I've actually been surprised by the lack of clarity even in the creeks, even this long after all the heavy rains.
