Anything going on along the Fox? From south Elgin to Aurora? Is the river still raging? I could find out for myself but trying to save the gas. Any info would be most appreciated.

The current is moving along pretty quick but the fishing (from shore) has been good to excellent for smallmouth and excellent to outstanding for catfish.

Definitely worth the drive IMHO.

Photographic proof available upon request

Darth ( I love that handle!), My usual spots are not producing. Generally (or specifically) where are you finding success? Thanks, Shortstriker.

Areas of heavy current...with a reason for the fish to be there.
Such as undercut banks...any size eddy...or concrete walls. Obstructions breaking the current should produce well also.

Crankbaits and spinnerbaits are working exceptionally well for smallmouth.

Quarter cast across or downstream INTO the heavy current and allow the flow to pendulum your lure into the "zone".

Lol I just found out the hard way I can't post images from my flicker account...I'll have to upload them to this site when I get a second=)

Hope this helps good luck and GoodFishin'!

Air, Darth, Short.... Thanks for the reply. I went to South Elgin anyway and hammered them! Pretty much identical to the conditions Dart sescribes. Several smallies and a monster cat. Smallies on Meps inline spinner and Cat on a minnow under a slip bobber all from shore. Dont dare wade yet but soon.
