Anybody know if the kings and steelies are showing up in salt creek at all yet? Its about an hour drive and I'm thinking about heading out on Saturday.

Unless I'm really wrong it's got to be really low with the drought we're in.

I did pass Trail Creek this weekend, and there were plenty of people fishing. Find the deep holes and downed trees. They are in there.

I've got to stop wishin'. Gota go fishin'...

They're both right...
If you're willing to put in the work, there's steelhead in Salt 365 days a year. Last slug of fresh fish came in about 2 weeks ago. Since then it's been hot and dry, but it's supposed to cool off and rain. I don't think an hour is too far to drive to check things out. Worst case scenario you scout out some new holes in low clear water. If you wait around for someone to tell you it's good, you're going to miss out on a lot of good fishing. Small pieces of skein or #2 or 3 black spinners are my go to's in the conditions we have now. Deep holes downstream of impediments in the lower sections or heavy cover around groundwater seeps and springs are your best bets.
