Fished the wwd today from 12-3. Caught 25 bass, 10 were between 12"-14". The other 15 were all under 10". Caught 1 northern pike which was 18". All were caught on minnows hooked through the lip/nose with a ice spoon and a small split-shot 6" above the hook. Heading back out there pending on weather. Didn't have camera, but will bring with next time so I can post pictures.

Thanks for the report. I was thinking about Salt Creek yesterday. Anytime the water level goes up in that creek it usually turns the fish on. Are you seeing any walleyes? I have had good luck on the walleyes in the creek using a white walleye assasin twisty jig.

Saw one guy flipping a jig under between the pipes, was tipped with a night crawler. Didn't see him get anything but was only there for 1/2 an hour when I started fishing.

Cool, I am not a big fan of fishing the pipes. I always get wrapped around them on a hook up. Usually fish below the dam on the same side as the WWD, or down the creek by the bridge. Thanks again!

Is this the same salt creek that runs through oakbrook? While never fishing it have sat quietly next to it ponder thoughts many a time. Don't know where it starts or ends, but have enjoyed it's shores in Oakbook/york road and also along LaGrange rd. in westchester.

Yes.

Starts a few miles north of Busse and ends in Brookfield where it dumps into the DesPlaines.

Didn't get a chance to get back out today, rain stopped just before dusk. Heading out tomorrow at 9. Have camera so if any fish are caught and are picture worthy, I will post them.

There were at least 3 eyes that came out of the pipes and were hanging around. One guy had one on but he got tied up around a pipe in the water and broke off. one of the eyes was a good 20"+

I used to be on the board of the Salt Creek Watershed network. Had friends that lived near Busse and fished the creek.

One spot I checked out but never fished was the bridge just downstream from the dam. From their along the the high school?? was supposed to be excellent for pike and walley.

Deeper holes.

In DuPage county I wouldn't bother fishing it much. Back in Cook County east of 294 used to be good.

I've fished there about 10 times, caught 1 or 2 eyes and a hand full of pike, hard to fish with all the rain make the current fast and fish seem to turn off.

Just below the main dam where busse turns back into salt creek, about 500 feet below the dam in a 45' wide channel thats about 300 foot long. Its about 3-4 feet deep, and water temp. is a steady ~60deg. warm.

It's in Elk Grove Village, IL.

Park in the FP parking lot on Arlington Hts Rd that's closest to the main dam and walk the bike path to the dam area.
