Well fortunately the weather scared me away from taking a boat out anywhere today. I had the itch and hit a local creek. After waiting too long for my partner to call I finally called him and told him to meet me there. I got to the creek around 11:30 and quickly thought I would just throw a jig and helgie until he arrived. Second cast landed me a nice 12" eye to my surprise. Casted a few more times and again the tug and a 16" eye greeted me at my feet. Wow, I was getting excited and scrambled to call my partner to tell him to hurry. A few more casts and bam, a really nice 20" eye. At this point I am in complete disbelief. A couple of other people showed up to witness my next feat. Casting along waiting for my partner, KABOOM, I got a hit that I knew was big. Then it jumped, a MUSKIE. So the kind gentlemen fishing by me kindly moved their lines so I could fight this monster. BTW I only had 1/8oz jig and 6lb test line. While fighting this fish my partner finally show up but ignores my yells for help (I guess he thought I was kidding at first). Once he realized I was for real he quickly grabbed my camera and followed me about a hundred yards downstream where the muskie dragged me. After getting it in position I grabbed her and 40"later:

After RELEASING her we went back to out spot and I continued to catch a small bass, a bluegill, and then this nice 24"eye:

A few more fish and we called it a day around 2:30.

Thanks all, but as usually I have to thank my camera man. Unfortunately he didn't catch a thing yesterday. Ofcourse the last two times out I got skunked while he caught fish.

I blame the catch on the line that my local bait shop guy (Lance @ Budziers B&T in Sandwich) talked me into. Fabulous stuff whatever it was. I am usually a trilene guy but this stuff is sweet, hopefully he reads this and lets me know what it was.

Somonauk, follow the Fox River south from Yorkville & it dumps into the Fox. Limited access points however, most private land.

Very cool Kevkom! Congrats on a couple great catches! The pattern on that eye almost looks like a sauger.

Nice job Kevin!

Actually, that looks like a Saugeye. I'm pretty sure it is. Looks much like the one I caught out of the Fox. Notice the blotches and the darker color.

I had the same word going through my mind - outstanding! Way to go Kevin. Looks like you might have a new Avitar (that Musky with the spillway in the backround). Nice pic!
