I picked up a Humminbird Helix 9 SI GPS and now if I go 25 - 30 MPH I no longer get the depth like I used to in my old Humminbird. Is this normal? How can I fix it?

I had the same issue with my Helix 10. No sonar reading at anything over 10 mph. I took it back to Cabelas and they took care of it by adjusting the transducer. No problems now.

Adjusting the transducer. I didnt think that was possible? Did they adjust the settings on unit? Placement - angle transducer was mounted? Or something else?

A second high speed transducer and a Y cable is the recommended solution.

This. The second ducer you will want is a shoot through hull variety. You can adjust your transom mounted transducer angle a bit or raise or lower it but that may only give you a few more mph before you lose your reading again

They lowered the transducer on my mounting board. Another unit wasn't added. Sonar reads fine now up to 40 mph.

Hope them installed a mounting board. if not have one put on. Its just a fixed board on back of the boat so you only put in holes once to get the board on then no more holes for new transducers.

That said you need to adjust your transducer angle, height, maybe even location. Make sure there is not through hull fittings infront of it. No rivits. Basically anything that can cause turbulence in the water. Some of these newer long tranducers just dont do a very good job at high speeds. If you have a glass boat you may want to consider a through hull as not o nly will you never loose bottom but you will still mark fish.

another thing to check is make sure the tranducer is clipped all the way down. most have a release so they flip up if you hit a object.

I could be wrong but thought I read in the manual that the chirp units do not get very high speed readings. Have to go back and look to be sure. Mine does about 20mph with good readings. I believe if you want detail you need to slow down, just my thoughts.
