Thinking that today and tomorrow’s weather plus the boat that breaks up the ice might make navy fishable tomorrow.

I live in Naperville so any info would be great before I head down. Will post report if it’s a go.

Can't tell if it's broken up or if that is just white pockets on the clear ice... but usually if you can check it mid-day you can see if there is ice or not when the sun is higher.

Fished navy pier today. When I got there around 7:30, there were four guys grouped by the west entrance. They had some fish, but nothing impressive. After 45 minutes of not getting a single bite, I started to walk towards the east end, trying a few spots on my way. Up to light post #7 there was open water, then ice sheets slowly moving around, with patches of open water in between them. I found fish around light post #11, then everyone moved over. Fished until 1:30, managed to limit out, even if it took me about 30 minutes to get my last (and best) fish. Fishing was ok, took some sorting, as usual.

Interesting but fun day on the water. Showed up about 1 pm and saw about 8 guys fishing. Asked the 1st one how it was going and he said nothing for him and a few for the other guys. I went 100 yards down to buoy 10 and caught an 11 incher 1st cast. Managed a few more and then nothing for 90 minutes. About 3 pm they started hitting and we finished with a 2 man limit. 6 10-11 inches. The rest 8-10

Water was open with a bit of floating ice and ducks were diving and slaying perch

Parking is the navy pier parking garages. It is $28 which is the tough part but it keeps it from being overcrowded I guess.

In terms of how long they stay it has more to do with being completly iced up and not being able to access at navy.

That being said thinking of heading out tomorrow. Anyone been out this week? They still hitting? What about ice?

For the fisherman's rate you don't have to be there before 6 AM. I got there one time at 9:30 and still got the $6 rate.

Hi everybody....I have been to Navy Pier about 5 times since Christmas.

I watch the time lapse view of the webcam at https://www.webcams.travel/search/Chicago. Unfortunately it is impossible to tell
if anyone is there during the day.

However, I cannot tell if it is possible to fish yet. I have seen long metal rods for breaking the ice.

Anyone been fishing? Are rods still there or are there holes in the ice alongside of the piers?

Thx!

plenty of open water today, lots of ducks and no fish. Sat there for three hours PM, threw everything at them, didn't have a friggin' bite.

when they don't bite, they don't bite

Perch have been inactive today. They are still all over, but the bite is slow.

Went today from 11-1. Not a bite on minnows or shrimp. Nobody even had a bite. Everybody left early.

Ice looked like it came out of crushed ice dispenser. Few large burgs, all crushed.

There was room to fish in the pockets between ice. The question of the hour is whether after no bites in 2 days, have they migrated?

If you have a camera, plz let us know! I was hoping to go tomorrow...
