I was thinking when the ice gets thick enough I would try for some perch.
What bait should I use?
I guess I should be fishing a few inches above the bottom.
Also I was going to put up a tip up for trout or any Salmonid
Once again – what would you suggest for bait

Swedish pimples tipped with a minnow head or piece of perch works well. I havent fished down there in a while but when I did it was dink city. Lots of action, but never a perch bigger than 8inches it seemed. I have ran tip ups also with out much luck. It is cool to be out there ice fishing though and you just never know what you might catch in there. good luck

Haven't seen a jumbo through the ice in 3 years at Montrose harbor. Catch dinks all day and you can see swarms of them through an underwater camera.

Like KrazyKarl said, Swedish pimple tipped with a minnow works well. Also, I'll fillet the chubs you accidentally catch as well and tip my Swedish pimple with that as well.
