Any recommendations on specific products to remove small rust spots to a 12 gauge barrel?

Some 0000 steel wool and touch of oil. In place of the steel wool you can use a scotch brite pad. If the bluing is affected, a little touch of oxy blue (cold blue) will fix it.

I have had luck with Flitz metal polish(paste)taking off surface rust. also use it at times for a good cleaning. most places that carry firearms will have some in the gun cleaning isle.

They sell Flitz at J. C. Whitneys also. They are in Utica near Starved Rock State Park.

Yes. It works well on rust.

FYI. I bought some used Curado reels from a guy. I got them home and totally cleaned them inside and out. I used Flitz on the outside paint since one of the reels had some boat rash on it. I applied it 5 or 6 times and rubbed it well and the scratches are almost gone. The only way you can see them is if you hold it up to the light at a specific angle to see the scratch tecture. It almost looks brand new after the Flitz polishing. I did the same to the others and they do look brand new now

Expensive but is goes a long way.
