The oldest grandson(10) took a dandy of a buck on the Indiana opener morning. Wish I could put up a picture. He is a great shot with his LT 20 1100 youth model. I bought that gun 25 yrs. ago for my youngest son. Nice to pass it on and see the youngster putting her to good use. I added years ago a Hastings rifled slug barrel with cantilever scope mount and muzzle brake. With that barrel she became a very soft accurate shooter.

Thank you Dave your a real gentlemen,
this is young Anthony age 10. He is on his way back home to southern Illinois as this is written. His father is Master Sgt. Tony mentioned in another thread titled close call. Was great to have the whole family in to hunt a farm that as a family we've been hunting now for 35yrs.

That's the way to pass hunting on.

Congrats to Anthony, Dad, and especially proud Grand Papa.

Well done.

Hey guys sorry its taken so long to reply to this thread, been super busy with work and seems like all my other buddy's locally are tagging out on deer and needing my assistance to help them track and find their deer on top of butchering the 3 deer my son shot. This was an unbelievable hunt and one I hope to never forget, we were covered with 3 does around us at 10 yards for the past 20 minutes and my son kept begging me to shoot one. No matter how many times he asked I responded "No, we are killing only Bucks this morning, we can shoot a doe anytime after that". Maybe 30 seconds later he rapidly starts hitting my leg saying "Buck, Buck, Buck", as I looked in the direction he was looking I seen this monster leading a doe through the woods in our direction. Finally at 70 yards I said, "can you make that shot" and he said he thought it was too far. I grabbed my grunt tube and gave a soft grunt even with the 3 does right behind us. Immediately the Bucks hair rose straight up and he was looking for a fight, he read the script and came in at 21 yards before I stopped him and told my son to shoot. After the shot the buck reacted a little funny and I was not sure were he was hit. I watched the buck run about 100 yards and then lay down with nothing but steam coming from the last point I seen him. After the morning hunt was over I looked for blood and the stress was over as I found good blood in the direction the deer ran. We gave him about 4 hrs before looking for him and once we walked up on this deer I almost cried in excitement for my son. The pictures do not do this deer justice as I was just in awe at the shear mass of this bucks antlers. One proud dad right here!

Thanks for the support fellas!
