Took a quick 40 minute walk and came up with a nice one. I also saw a small fork horn still holding his antlers.

Just walked in 10 min ago. I'm 0/3 on "shed walks". Looks like males all still sporting full head gear.

Saw to small bucks just south of Rt. 59 and 90 last night. Maybe with warming temps they will start to drop.

Found a 4 point a few weeks ago walking the farm looking for a wounded/dead buck the neighbor shot during second season. Thought it might have been a early drop but was fairly chewed up. Unfortunately another neighbor found the buck, nice 10 point that had a bad shot. Not too happy, one of those neighbors that has 20 acres of woods but has 4 guys that hunt it.

Took a long walk and picked up one more. I may have 1 more walk in me and then I'll keep an eye out while turkey hunting.

Be careful picking up sheds in Forest Preserve. I saw Forest preserve cops checking out some hikers who were shed hunting. I guess they were seen with two sheds the day before and were reported and cops were waiting for them the next day when they came out of the woods. Law- nothing can be taken out of Forest Preserve except fish ?

Spotted a nice buck, guessing 120's yesterday just north of Joliet road and 355. I don't recall ever seeing antlers on deer this late in the year.

I think around the 1st of April is the latest I've seen one still holding. By that point, the new antlers have to be almost pushing out the old ones. I think another week and they will all be dropped. It's been a pretty mild winter so they might hold them a bit late. Just pulled a camera that died in late January and it already had two bucks that had dropped (young ones) but still heard of some holding. You just never know....

"What are you in for?"
"Illegal antlers."
"OK boys, we got us a real criminal here."
