Ammo question.....

I have loaded up on #5 and #6 tomorrow, high brass fiochi and kent loads, but it looks like it might be a bit windy....is there a need to go to #4 or is that too big, should I instead look at shooting something with a higher FPS velocity to account for the wind, or I am overthinking it all?

bd, I always shoot the kent fast steel #4. Just let the quail and chukar get out a little bit before you touch them

You may be overthinking it just a tad little bit, but then that's half the fun. I too loaded up on the high brass Fiochi loads in both 4's and 5's as that was really all the Cabela's in Hoffman Estates had in stock. I've shot that for a couple of years now and have found them to be reliable and effective shells.

I would say that the different birds that will be hunted will dictate your choice of loads more than the wind. I will be carrying 4's and 5's for the pheasant and chucker, but I will also have some 7 1/2 loads for when we get into the quail. Usually, the quail will covey up so you will likely have a chance to change loads when you get into them.

Looking forward to tomorrow.

Thanks for the info Gents. Cant wait until tomorrow.

See you all at pete's about 6.

Marc, will we pick up our guide at the clubhouse? Do I need to print the last mile directions or will we caravan out from Pete's?

Gentlemen,

I won't be able to make this hunt but Patrick has all your names with the numbers in your group. Have breakfast and show up at the club, settle up and they'll drop your birds.

If you called Patrick but posted here please call him back so that you are not double dipping.

bd you are the only group that said they needed a dog. Please let me know if I got that wrong so I can call patrick back.

the club is yours for the day gentlemen, have a great hunt.

Kennyman your with Cully.

Sorry that you won't be there Marc, hope everything is alright and that we get a chance to catch up soon.

Kennyman, welcome aboard. There will be 6 of us in the group w/ 4 dogs (including Remington). We will probably meet you at Pete's on the way to the field, but I don't know if we'll all make it in time for breakfast. I'll send you a PM with my cell phone # and we can work out the logistics.

Hey guys,

I just got off the phone with Patrick and apparently he told some of you that the banded bird had to be back in by noon to be in the money. I let him know that Marc's post said that the banded bird could be in by 1:00 to split the pot. Patrick agreed that we will go with 1:00 p.m. as that was the original time stated in the post and he asked me to send out this message so that everyone is on the same page. So, there you go.

Have fun and let's all be safe.
