I hunt the Kankakee river from state line down to Kankakee along with the Hot Tub and the Des Plaines river.
We also have access to different fields from Kankakee to Reddick.

Got fields in Homer Glen, Plainfield, and Channahon.

Yo Goosefreak94 how are you accessing the Des Plaines in Lockport?

Not legally unless hes putting in down in Joliet and walking up. Everything within a couple miles is either propery of water rec, forest preserve, or material services. Most islands are fp too. A lot of guys got in some deep $@*& when they started working on the island again. Couple idiots shot up the building while there were a few guys working around it. I've talked to guys who claim to "know someone." Not the case for anyone, talked with every authority in will co. and they prosecute anyone they catch down there. You will see alot of guys get picked up and dropped off in a hurry. Some dingbat even tried parking by the old guard house and hunting fp property. If you noticed, there werent too many people shooting down there last year and I don't remember seeing any of the usual blinds. From what I have heard they locked things up all the way to dupage county. Don't forget that you can get in serious trouble for shooting over or onto fp property, and there aren't many spots down there that you can avoid doing it. Everyone has told me that as long as you can LEGALLY access the river and not shoot their land, its ok to hunt there.

And for those who say its all just a rumor, I have seen multiple people get arrested and talked with dozens of officers over the last couple years. There used to be a few spots you could park and walk a distance but pd doesn't look the other way anymore. We aren't welcome on the desplaines anymore and things have been getting messed up by a few idiots who think its there right to hunt wherever they want or that its ok because they did it 20yrs ago. I am NOT accusing anybody on this forum, just wanted to give you guys a heads up. Put in the time and research, you will find out how much trouble you could be getting into.

Oh and I hunt other areas of the desplaines river, DCA, kankakee river sp, and the fox river in a few spots. I don't hunt any of the cooling lakes. Parted ways with a few old hunting buddies that couldn't put down the bottle. I don't hunt with anyone that still has booze on their breath from the night before. Needless to say I hunt areas that are easy for my to hunt alone and aren't necessarily dangerous to hunt by myself.

Northern Lake County and Wisconsin ($92 for a NR license-very worth it). Got a blind on Lake Marie, and some decent fields in the area. Additionally, I have land on Grass Lake but have really struggled to get ducks on it. We bow hunt it.
