I hate this lake!
Pluses: New tool box for holding tipups is awesome New Gore-Tex bibs rock Troy's new 700 Grizz is badazz Troy's new LX-5 is nice
Minuses: The fishing The weather
In all seriousness, the majority of ice we saw in GB was around the 7" mark and rock solid. It's a little hairy right at the launch where it looks like runoff from last week's melt busted up the ice. By right around the launch, I mean a 30-50 yard radius circle, if centered at the launch. Popped around in there before taking the quad out, and found some spots in the 3" range. If you follow the shoreline to the left (AWAY from the open water around the municipal piers!) and break from shore just before the Willow Tree that hangs over the water, you SHOULD be good to go (found nothing under 5-6" in this stretch). I do have a feeling some numbnut is going to take his truck out a tad too early and bust up the launch, just like every year.
To all the guys that were thinking about heading out and couldn't make it, GOOD CALL! Definately going to have to change things up next weekend, either new spot or new lake. Now that we have transportation, we have a few more options.

Bummer about the bite. Congrats on the new Grizz, he's gonna love it! You guys have alot more big water options to explore now with the mobility. We need to do a Sturgeon Bay trip in March. Been using a Plano 24" tool box for a couple years now and it definitely makes carrying the traps a lot easier. Many pluses to this method as you can see. Which box did you go with?

Thanks John, I never realized we needed a quad until we finally got one. Wish the ice was a little more even so we could have really tried it out a bit, you should have seen the look on our faces when I walk out with the drill and bust through 3" of ice! We have talked about making a late ice trip up Nort, that would be awesome if we could make it happen. I'll start gathering up the Thills...
I ran by Menards for the box, and they didn't have the yellow Plano one everyone uses anymore, so I had to either improvise or order one. I found a box that was the same size, except it has molded-in handles on the side and no tackle boxes in the lid. Had about 10 traps in there no problem..sure beats the hell out of a bucket. Forgot the name of it, but I'm happy so far.

Sorry for your time on Geneva. You should have headed west on 50 and fished Della. Still some good reports on the west side of the lake for Gills and Crahps. Did you try Trinkies? I wonder how the ice is in that area. Keep on trying now that you've got the wheels!!!!
