Was out this afternoon on a small pond. My bait was a small black jig tipped with waxies. The action was non-stop nothing big, all gills around six to seven inches but very thick! This fish took my bait, bringing it up through the hole and noticed it looked like a perch with some orange on the bottom fins. When I took the hook out I noticed no stripes like a perch. This fish was around nine inches long. Any thoughts on what this fish is?

We just caught 1 on Bangs a couple hours ago with a jig and waxie... I think it is a sucker - I told my buddy to put it on a tip up but he threw it back.

I've caught similar looking fish. The ones I've caught look like a type of carp, based on the scales

XX Large golden roach. Gonna have to start keeping them as bait, not just throwing them back in the hole.

Yup, I'd say a Golden Roach. There are other Roach members which are all part of the
Carp family and they are abundant in the Chicago lakes and all over the world.

I never hurd of the Silver Roach.
