Just wondering if anyone went out there this weekend and what the ice is like.

Fished monster sunday, started right out in the center, in front of the ramp.
38' to 30' water, marked fish in and out between 8' to 20', jigging forage minnow with bee moths.
Black and yellow tear drops with small weight , bee moths.
Caught dink gills and crappies. Just waiting!

Thanks for the reply, glad to hear you caught some. I havent fished monster before, but I understand it's one of the bigger lakes. How was the ice on it after the warm rain we had last week?

Hey I am thinking of going out Thursday on Monster...you only fished right from the ramp? Have you ever tried right where it gets narrow before the long stretch? I have never fished Monster on the ice? Any other spots you'd recommend? I have caught a lot of bass right where that narrow pass is was thinking of drilling a hole right there what are your thoughts on that chopstyx?

Well the only reason i stayed in the center, near the ramp . my buddies got a bad feet, they get cold fast.
The rest of the time i move pretty good around, as for the narrows , i iced that off to the sides, and dink bass seem
the only thing going around there."
If you stay to the center i think you might do better, as i found more active fish, between 12' to 20'
But Sat i'll be there, farther down abit. Look for the Frabill, stop by and say hi.
Sunday north side opens, you'll find me there! Just Waiting!
Nice crappies have been caught, on minnows, deeper water.

Hey thanks a lot for that I really appreciate it. I am really only familiar with the south unit I have a small john boat so that's where I put in...along that same road that Monster is on. Is ponderosa open to ice fish? I have never fished any of the south unit through the ice. It seems like it could be a place that produces if you can find them. Thanks chopstyx...don't know if I will be able to join you Saturday but definitely thinking about Monster tomorrow? Have you caught any northerns on tip ups there?

The North unit opens for ice fishing on Jan 9th, the South unit opens on Jan 17th, archery closed then!
and no snakes on tips, BUT did see some nice ones taking a peek at the camera !

I'm trying to get out to the north unit on Sunday, in the afternoon. Trying to get my son in law out, around 130pm to closing if any body has interest in the back half of the day.

North is open, some nice crappies taken, few here few there.
lots of guys out, i did alot of walking, caught three crappies, and lots of dinks gills.
Did see a cat on the camera, swam up on the minnow head, and swam away!
Now for the rest of Mazonia to open and , it's back to alot of walking!

Missed you guys, wound up on Bullhead around 130p and fished a couple hours. I wasn't marking any fish at all the forst hour, moved into deeper water and found a few sniffers and couldnt convert. Next time.

Hey Chop and others you might want to talk to the office my father was out there yesterday and hammered the gills. He stopped in the office to say hi to the guys since he hasn;'t seen them for a while and just to be nosey. He was informed that the south unit doesn't open until Mon the 18.
