There are three shows in January...

Musky Show (Jan 8-10)
All Canada Show (Jan 10-13)
Fishing Show in Rosemont (Jan 27-31) (Don't recall the name)

What are the main differences between these three shows? I've never been to a fishing show... what do they have there? What do they do? Is one better than the next for me as a fairly new angler?

Thanks in advance!

Kinda depends what you're looking for.
Musky Show: Main focus of the show is obviously muskies. Resorts, lure companies, boats, rod builders, and tackle stores that cater to the musky fisherman. Great seminar line up....well worth the admission by itself. Muskies muskies and more muskies.

All Canada Show: Kinda self explanitory....all Canada. If planning a trip to Canada, would be a good show to attend.

Rosemont show: Expensive....have to pay for parking and to get in. Multi species resorts and tackle retailers. Lots of trinkets and as seen on TV type stuff.

If you are a new angler(or a seasoned veteran) this is a good show to attend: http://www.tinleyparkfishingshow.com/

Great show with some good deals, and cheap to get in. Plus all the profits go to the HS.

I think the musky show is the best show in the Chicago area. The other shows all have their bargain bin crap from pevious years, the musky show is a debut for alot of things in the musky world each year. The rosemont show gets worse and worse each year, this year a Boston firm has taken the show over, mik- Muffin tackle from Hammond, indiana has by far the biggest spread of tackle there each year, they will no longer be there.

Check out one at Deerfield HS. I've never been to it but I heard they patterned it after the TP Show. Maybe someone can comment on that.

I'm not 100% sure, but I heard that that show is not gonna happen this year.

The Tinley Park Show,

How much is it?
Where exactly is it held?
When exactly is it?
What exactly is being showed off?

The Tinley show and Musky show are wthout doubt the best shows, period.

If you go to the Tinley show, you have to try the shore lunch.

I'll try to go to both the Musky show and the Tinley show then. I'll skip the Rosemont show.

Thanks to all.

I thought someone told me it was gonna happen but they were rethinking the layout. I'll have to check my source. I went last year and there was a good deal of stuff to look at and buy as well as quite a few worthwhile seminars. I would go to this one again. I don't fish Musky so those species specific type shows are out.

The Deerfield show is cancelled. The fishing club I belong to: Fox River Valley Muskie Inc was to have a booth at this show. We got our check back and a letter stating they are not holding the show.

Sorry, but I forgot the reason why they cancelled.

The Tinly Park show is a good one to attend. The only problem I have is, it can get very crowded at times. If your by yourself you can get around, however if you bring small children or a baby stroller it can be a hassle to move around.

There is also the small but great Hammond Ind. show. I know McLurch will be there as well as Calumet marine(aka-Honda Cat) and 5-Orrs charters, these are a few of our sponsers. I believe its worth the time and trip if not just to get out of the house. Since I dont ice-fish it does me good. I will try and get the dates posted later.
