Looking to take a friend from out of state this weekend and was hoping someone could give clarity on the reciprocal waters around Cal Harbor. If I understand correctly both of us having Indiana licenses should mean we are fine as long as we stay south of Cal Harbor breakwall and out of the river. Can anyone more familiar with the area clarify. It's never mattered to me before since I always have both IL and IN licenses but I would hate to make him buy an extra unnecessary license.

Just stay out of the slips, and if you go into the river, don't go past the first bridge and your all good. It's not too hard to find a map if you google it, I'm sure it's also on the site if you use the search function. What would really make sense to me is to have a couple BIG ASS maps at the launches in the area.

We ended up putting together a pretty successful trip. 8 landed with the biggest 5 weighing between 15-16 Lbs. Best bait was 1/4 oz jig with darter jr in Steiger Ice color. We also caught 1 on a crankbait and lost another on a blade bait. We covered quite a bit of water and other than the bait of choice their wasn't much of a pattern.
