Couldn't get the boat out this weekend so I did some pond fishin with pops Saturday afternoon for his birthday. Landed a handful of 1-2 pounders on frogs, creature baits and senkos. Then he set the hook on this giant; 21-1/2" long id say pushin 6lbs because if how wide she was; pretty good birthday gift if you ask me.

I'd say 6 lbs is a pretty solid estimate on that fish, nice catch!

she's a pig allright congrats. great fish
heres a formula i found a while ago that gets you pretty close on weight, i 've checked theses with a digital scale and they are pretty much on the money

1.Measure, in inches, the length of the fish from the front of its mouth to the end of its tail. Write that number down.
2.Measure, in inches, the girth of the fish at the largest part of the body. Write that number down.
3.Determine the weight for any fish by first squaring the girth figure. For example, if the girth is 12 inches, multiply 12 by 12. Multiply the new figure by the length of the fish. Divide the new figure by 800 to determine the weight of the fish, in pounds.
4.Determine bass weight by multiplying the length by the length by the girth. Divide that figure by 1,200.
5.Determine northern pike weight by multiplying the length times the length times the length. Divide that figure by 3,500.
6.Determine sunfish weight by multiplying the length times the length times the length. Divide that figure by 1,200.
7.Determine trout weight by multiplying the length times the girth times the girth. Divide that figure by 800.
8.Determine walleye weight by multiplying the length times the length times the length. Divide that figure by 2,700.

Congrats to dad on the nice fish. You gotta love the quality fish that can be caught in small ponds.

That is quite an impressive lower jaw on that specimen. I'll bet that fish had some attitude...
