A BIG hello to everyone; I'm in need of some advice. My local lake is very weed chocked and i would like to try some top water fishing. What lure would ya recommend? I know there are nice bass in the lake. ..........Mike

Mike, Try going with a nice heavy Jig and trailer and punch through the weeds. All my ponds have been weed choked as well and have been using a 3/8 oz-1/2oz Van Damm swim jig with a plastic trailer. I trimmed the plastic hairs and it increases the profile of the trailer. Punch it into weed dges or thick mats. I awlays seem to get Bass lying in wait in the weeds. If I don't get anything that way I then go to buzz bait and a spinner bait. and try the top water thing.
Good Luck

It's what I pick if it's a little too weedy for a buzzbait. If it's too weedy for a Rage Tail, I'll go to a Spro Frog! Don't be afraid to slide a Senko across the top of the slop and into the holes. Good luck.

I would agree with all of the above and include a Yum buzz toad. It gives off a slightly different sound than the rage tail if that doesn't produce.
Good luck!

Cut the small colorado blade off a tandem spinner bait. Using a single willow gets through heavy cover a lot better. Everything anyone else has said on this post is also a great choice.

Think I'll try some of those suggestions myself. Also like rigging a big 10 inch worm texas style with no weight, then swimming it right over the canopy of weeds, like a snake.Hard part is gonna be getting the fish to you afterwards.Could'nt go wrong with a frog either,Good Luck!

Hey Buscuit, I swim in the weeds of my local ponds. This creates casting opening, I can check the depth and when I get out,I can see all the little critters on me that the bass eat. I can tell water temps and I usually snag a lure or two when I am swimming in the mucky weeds. Buscuit, This is a secret trick I use and pass on to you. Do not share this tip with any smart or knowledgable fishermen. But feel free to share it with your local Michigan friends and neighbors.
