This will be my first post on this forum. My name is Arvin. Nice to meet y'all. Well, Today me and my friends went out to MAPLE lake. We spent like a few hours there, going into the woods and all. But I got nothing, not even a blue gill, so I managed to get over this one tree and when I tried it, the 2nd time I fell upside down my ass and caught and abrasion on my both of my wrist. Took out the first aid kit and wipe my wound with Benzalkonium chloride. It wasn't bad so I continue fishing. It should heal by Tuesday, it looks like it's just badly bruised with spots of blood there and ther. So then we were like screw this lake, went to SAG QUARRIES, walked all the way towards the back and the WIND was horrible. The lake was floating with icebergs of brown decaying plants. We cast a couple of times and then left. Took buddy back to his house. So my and my other buddy decided to hit Lake Michigan around Northerly Island @ Burnham harbor, while heading back home. We saw a couple of people, asked them what they caught they said perches. But not everyone caught something. Well, when the sun set I still stuck around by the boats. I was using a Yo-zuri, it was black on top with a red body. I was slowly reeling it in and BAM, a fish hit, while I was reeling him in, it was fighting like mad crazy, jumped out of the water like three times, got him to the wall, lift its ass out of water, and then it flops himself off the hook and started flopping around on a rampage. Then I lipped his ass and took a picture. The fight seem like 2 minutes to me. It was about 4-5lbs, but I forgot to pull out the tape measure I was so excited.Well I measure the width of my shoulders just now, which is like 17-18 inches. The fish was wider than me, so I say 17-19 inches. But I am not sure about the weight, I was so pumped on adrenaline. Well this is the first fist I caught on a crankbait rattle trap lure, and also the biggest fish I have landed in my life. IT WAS AWESOME I DIDN'T GET SKUNKED! MUAHAHA! Thanks for reading. This was the lure I used. http://www.yo-zuri.com/01_products/05_r ... 07_rbl.jpg

Thanks people, well this is the first time I caught a fish at Lake Michigan, and it's a nice one. I am still a novice when it comes to this lake. Is there any other Harbors that house smallies. I am addicted to them.

Nice Fish and Report! This lake is only getting better. Catching / Releasing, to me, makes the experience that much more sacred.

Nice smallie! Looks to be right in the 17-19" range that you were estimating. Enjoy the new addiction...
