The smallmouth revolution in Lake Michigan is a long established fact these days from the City south. But what about north? Over the last few years I have unsuccessfully tried the R4, around GL, the shoreline rocks along Waukegan, Alcatraz. Nothing. Without giving away the store can somebody comment on timing, technique, type of location for Smallies up this way? Thanks.

Take Em, I think it might help to invite Captain Jim out, I'm just plain "Good Luck"! :helloooooo I'm sure there are some folks here that can provide some insight here, but..........

All kidding aside, you should talk to Tom, our waterfowl hunting buddy. He has been focusing on this very subject this season. Look me up, I'll get you in touch with him. :winker

No expert on this but I have been told there are isolated rock piles off the shore south of Waukegan that hold smallmouth. If you have side scanning sonar you might be able to find these rather quickly.

They are there, have been for several years, Great Lakes, Alcatraz, North Point, all of them hold fish, some nice rock piles in the Wilmette Lake Forest area all hold fish too...
