It's a shame that fall mushroom season is about done , but , I did find enough to have a few meals. Since spring I had my sights set on finding... (insert dorky tone) Laetiporus Sulphureus, or the Chicken Of The Woods, but I ended up harvesting quite a few Hen Of The Woods instead. I also harvested some Turkey Tails, and a bunch of Phesant Backs.

I found this Giant Puffball but, when I went to pick it up, my fingers instantly popped into it leaving my hands completely covered in rotten green slimy mushroom. I honestly felt like I just grabbed a cow pie. It was SICK!!

So check this out!!!! I found this Native American artifact in the patch of woods I was hunting. It's a grinding stone made out of red granite. It's insane holding this thing and thinking about all the history behind it. I sacrificed my fall musky season to hunt fall mushrooms, but, finding something like this makes it all worth it. I've hoards of mushroom pics from this spring and summer. I'm gonna post more as soon as I get some more time.

Sweet Pics Fletch!! You have the start of some fine stew there!
I'm sure the grinding stone was a multi purpose tool,as husbands returning late from a night at the trading post probably found out !

Those are some really nice finds, Fletch! I've gathered a few more puffballs myself recently and they were in great shape.

Can't wait to see the pic of your first glowing rock...soon to come, I'm sure.

Thanks Fellas!! Hey Tim you wouldn’t happen to have any recipes for such a stew would yis? I’ve been frying all the mushrooms I find in vegetable oil, but I’d kinda like to mix things up a little.

Ron I WISH I could get up to the U.P. and find one of those rocks. You can buy em, but I think I’d rather find em myself.
