Well this is the year I finally got rid of my 2 stroke main engine. I shopped around and after talking with Frank at the Tinley show I made up my mind. For 2 years i have been useing a honda kicker. So with that, i decided to go with a 75hp honda.
Yesterday the process started. After signing papers I witnessed true professionals in action. I sold my old 75 tiller and the buyer was picking it up from my house on sunday. Frank crated it up and loaded it up in my truck. That's something you don't see anymore, old fashioned customer service. I'm so looking forward to the completed install. While my entire fishing days have been with a Mercury motor hanging out the back, I'm looking forward to the performance on this motor. I will post a update when it's finished.

Hey Rocky you made a great decision working with Frank and everyone else at Calumet Marine. Also, we have been running Honda's for well over 10 years and the only thing that ever happened was the water output tube came off. Even I could fix that one. Frank will do a great job and you will be amazed with the difference in the Honda compared to the Mercury. Quiet, no smoke, sips gas but be careful. They are so quiet I can't count how many times I'v stopped to fish and forget to turn it off while anchored or drifting. I will see you at the Riverside Fishing Club on Thursday to set up a day to go out in May.

Picked up my boat yesterday. Frank is the real deal. Came in on his day off to let me pick it up. He made sure my cover was secure with the storms Sunday to keep the boat dry. Very clean install, no mess at all in the boat. Gave me the training and the break in procedure that a guy can understand. He took the boat for sea trials and said everything is set and was amassed the tiller was that fast and it jumped out of the hole with no problems. he even brought people to be in the boat to simulate the weight. I`m looking forward to a great guiding season in the rig. Going to go out this weekend to finish the break in and see how it is going to make life easier in the boat.

Took out boat yesterday to finish break in. After completed, I was able to see how the set up was done and I have to say the new motor is a quiet monster. Blasted me out of the hole fully loaded(35 gal fuel,3 big boys and tackle) and it pegged me out at 35 mph gps 6200 rpm. for a 75 tiller, that`s perfect. I will highly recommend Calumet Marine.

Did that 75HP tiller have Hydraulic assisted steering ? If so how is the assist working ?

I like the tiller concept but as the motors get bigger them long rides
are calling for a wheel..... Running a 40HP tiller now and really like the open floor space
of the boat and the quick throttle response.

No assist. When they are set right, its no effort. I can let go of my handle cruising at 25 yesterday. Its all in the set up of the steering tab.

I agree with John,

Calumet Marine has been good to me. Didn't matter if it was my Etec or my Searay that needed service, Frank has always taken good care of my boats and motors. My Etec is somewhere around 1400+ hours and still going strong.

Frank see you this weekend at the Coho Fever Contest. Should be a good contest, lots of extras for this one. :winker
