Went out with a couple of fishing buddies for a day on the water. Left the boat ramp just outside the mouth and started a trolling
pattern for walleyes on a NW course that would take us over the first hump and beyond. Trolled 1.3-1.6mph using #4 shad body
crankbaits and a worm harness. Took 2 average size walleyes in the 14-16 inch range, threw them back and tried again with all
cranks. Finished up the day with 7 walleyes, only 2 over the 16inch limit and they were returned to grow big and fat. Had a fun day all
in all and always nice to be out with good friends. My buddies used spinning gear, while I brought a couple of my walleye trolling rods with
Daiwa LC reels. Did manage to bring up one stinking carp in the 4-5 lb range. Even though he is considered rough fish, the fight he
provided was enjoyable. It's always nice to have one fish that nearly rips the rod out of your hand and then gives you a fight that
you'll remember for awhile. Happy summer fishing and tight lines!
