Went out last night with my friend Darrel, to try for some Crappie late in the day and into the night. We got on the water about 6:30 PM set out some markers on some humps so we could find them after dark. Well it was nice out on the water not many bugs and almost no wind, Crappie bite was short from 7:30 to 8:15 we had 3 fish on all at once and that was it, then a little later caught 2 more just short of 10 inches. After dark put out the lights 1 floating white and 1 green submersible both light seemed to work alright. They attracted bugs which attracted minnows but no Crappie. Tried a few spots and even the spot where we caught a few earlier but no takers. Stayed out until 10:15 and call it quits.

Goosehunter, did you probe outside of the wash of the lights?
How far below the surface were the crappie hanging out ?
That's some fun and entertaining fishing.

Sounds like a nice way to beat the heat. How many Watts? Did the lights drag down your battery quick?

Chopstyx-- yes at WRC main Lake and no boat traffic. Any Luc--- yes probed a radius from 1 foot to 15 feet away with slip bobber and jig / minnow set at different depths. The Crappie that I caught earlier, with a cast and retrieve with 1/32 jig / wedgie and minnow. Yes fun, even if the plan didn't work! ---Jeff we had the lights on maybe 2 hours with no problem, but had them hooked up to a new 29 series battery. Not sure of the watt draw but had a spare battery in case we needed it.

John, we had some waxie's with us, but didn't try them for the Gills. Maybe we should have, but we were "Crappie Fishing" and found a new spot maybe next week they will still be there?
