I am looking to set up a trip to Kentucky lake for crappie this spring. Does anyone have any guides or places to stay, maybe a house boat rental? any help would be great! thanks, Joe.

We went to Kentucky Lake for a long weekend in August it was HOT and then the sun came up and it was even HOTTER I think the heat index was 105. Have to agree Moors Res0rt was nice. I used Randy from Kick-N-Bass for some bass fishing and even on a 90 degree morning he was able to put us some fish . He doesn't live far from the resort so he picked us up in the boat right on the dock at Moors. I'm planing a longer trip this year and will be using Randy again when I go. Good luck with the Crappie I hear there are some nice ones there.

Shawnee Bay is a pretty nice place, not far from The Moors. Try Captain Kirk's guide service.

Cozy Cove is real nice as well. I can't remember the Cap that they have, but we
had great time fishing the bays around the resort. Nice cribs and beds in the creek.

Timing Kentucky will be key. I have been there on the third week of April and it
takes some praying, because one year we had great weather the other lousy.
Bad weather and definitely need a guide. When the bad weather sets in, in the spring
and it lasts a week or so.

Weather will make or break your trip. Great places for the family and kids.
Roaming Buffalo on the Tennessee side and zoo, outlet mall for the wife and great
mom/pops restaurants. People are great down there.

Good luck.

i would shop around i know kentucky lake is very well known for their crappie but i was living in the lexington area last year around pre spawn and i can think of three lakes around my area that produced great slabs day after day green river lake was one of them lake herrington was another and i forget the name of the other one but my point is unless your determined to go there i would think fishing a lake that isnt as popular would be cheaper...

I'd second Jason's post Captian Kirk knows his business Shawnee Bay is nice but buy your bait at the Moor's just around to the left as you leave Shawnee Bay. S.B. at least the week I was last there a dozen minnows is a dozen (OK maybe 13) - boy I hate that!

You can also get minnows at Fast Eddies not far from there. Last time I was there they were a buck a dozen and you got a lot more. Decent burgers there too.
