Wow! Nice fish. Coming from the cold, northern climes where growth takes longer, I wonder how old a walleye must be to reach that size. Yeah, big smiles for a big event.

Oh baby. Look at THAT knobby headed hootchie mama! Sold! I'm planning a trip for next year! chuckt wrote: Coming from the cold, northern climes where growth takes longer, I wonder how old a walleye must be to reach that size. I'm guessing 25 years. It's all the FOOD in the system. Mark, what's Lake Ontario's main lake summer walleye fishery like? What type of size and bag limits are in place?

4 fish total, only 1 over 24 3/4 (its centimeters but dont remember). Henderson Harbor lake ontario new york has a SMOKIN spring/early summer spinner & meat bite. New York Lake Ontario is pretty crappy for walleye, more big King Salmons (home of the 30+ lbers.). Charity Islands off Quinte has a pretty summer pattern out there. Its a horseshoe reef, but very few target them.
Overall, I think we pulled close to a dozen teener walleye this november.

Quote: His favorite part of the trip is where he says "guess how many dad caught?" - NONE....baaaa-haaaa-haaaa. Mark, it is nice to see that your son let you be in the picture with one of his fish. My guess is that it was his smallest of the day. I suppose that this means that if and or when you get back to this part of the country for a visit you won't want to fish for our smaller size Walleyes.

"Small fish for the boy." That's a small fish? Looks more like a small boy for the fish.

Dont get me wrong, big fish are nice. They fish are old, 15 plus year or so. They are mature, smart, habitual, and extremely fussy. You get a big fish like that and you got a story for a lifetime.
I do miss the midwest. Nothing like pulling a limit from lake winnebago pullin hooks in the mud. All fish 17 to 20 inches. Good meal there, damn good meal.
