I have camped in the state park near Argyle, WI and fished the lake. Going there in the early 70's with my older brothrs, we caught nice sized crappie on spinners and really had a ball. The past years, I found that the lake had changed with the rough fish overtaking the game fish and that the lake bed had become very silty as evidenced by the sucking sound when I pulled up the anchor off the bottom. I know that there is/was an effort to clean up the carp via culling them but am wondering how things are now. I would like to plan a camping trip in the late spring. The park is kept clean and the facilities are really nice. Having the fish to catch would make it even better.
Has anybody fished it lately?

Never fished it. From the map, it looks like the max depth is only 14ft deep.

Never fished the lake..Last year we fished the dam during deer season and did good on Walleye, Crappie and even got into Muskie.

Caught some crappies in the lake near the dam spillway a 1 or 2 months ago when I was visiting my sister up there. The berm shoreline near the dam is a hangout for crappies.

There are some big muskies in the lake. They cleaned literally tons and tons of junk fish from the lake, and for a long time it was catch and release only for gamefish. Don't know what the current regs are now.

The river also has muskie in it. But most of the fish in the river are carp.
