I am heading up to Presque Isle on Saturday Oct.2. I am attempting to fish with live bait(most of the time-new to me) for Big Crappies(help) and some walleyes/Smallies. I will also fish a few days in UP. including Gogebic. Does anyone know any good fall action lakes for these Fish in between Land O LAKES and Presque Isle with UP included. Your secret lakes will only be fish 5/6 hours tops total on this trip and be forgotten. I like to move around. How and where should I fish for the 11/12 inch crappies and what kind of minnows.I know redtails on steep banks for eyes and smallies(any lakes ?). Have you ever fished Allen, Marion, Moosehead, Pomaroy, eel, Palmer or even a walk in bluegill lake. Pm's will be kept to myself and son and I will even travel to have lakes marked on my map or we can talk on phone. I am not a meathound just a 1 fish meal fisherman. whatever you can ad about the lakes listed and of lakes in the area that are good action lakes for panies/eyes/smallies. I am going blind so I need a headstart..Thanks.

My folks live in PI and I fished the area quite a bit in the past. For crappies, I would get my boat on the Van Vliet/Presque Isle chain. While PI is deep and rather weed free, Van Vliet is a weedy lake, with some real nice crappies in it. Great Musky fishing as well in both lakes. VERY clear water in both. Smallies aren't that prevalent, but if you get onto Crab Lake, it is loaded with smallies. Be very careful if you go onto Crab lake as it has numerous islands and submerged islands. A lower unit nightmare, but great structure. Again, very clear water. The only stained water that I like up there is Oxbow lake. It is a good walleye and musky water. If you want to PM me on this, feel free.
