Had a great long weekend with two old friends to my favorite water. Friday the wind and rain had me wondering how good a choice our long weekend would work out. Next three days were near perfect. Pastika's for big walleye suckers and heard "go deep" so that's where we started. I found them - smallies - shallow 13" to 7'. I had 2 buddies that on my scale were casual fishermen. They called me the 'fish nazi' - 'relax relax' they said as I pulled up stakes moved around alot and tried this, that, and the other. Well once we figured out the pattern Sat. afternoon - and it was shallow not deep - we had 20 SM in about 2 hours. Fat pigs several 20's a slew of 18's & 19's. Weekend continued really hot at times and dead at others way more hot than not. Water was right at 60 warming to 63 in the day. Lot of laughs a number of doubles a couple of one man doubles. Blazing fire, cold beer old buddies telling stories you hadn't thought about in years and putting them on fish that they'll long remember. The window is closing for 2010. Make a couple of calls and make it happen while it's happening.

I was up in that area as well last weekend! The between the rain and the wind we finaly got a few nice footballs as well fish up to 20in and scaled at 5lb 4oz. We got ours on Walleye suckers as well. This was the first time up in the Hayward area. How many fish did you catch on each spot? We couldn't get more than 2 at a time. Then nothing! We moved around a lot as well to and located lots of fish willing hit. The action was fast and then slow at time too! Next time your up there we should compare notes. :drink

I know parts of "my" lake really well. When the wind was blowing out of the south my favorite bar lines up for a pass the length of it and 3-4 was frequent in a pass. We'd stay there an hour or two as the catching dictated and we crushed "em. Wind would shift out of the west I'd follow breaklines on the south shore line. Wind shift to the north or east the boat would head to the dock for beer or lunch. Calm spells we hit the outer points of the center bar where we would at least get a little movement. Couldn't keep by buddies line apart when running the trolling motor
