I understand why I never see Papoose here in the fishing reports. I had hoped that, with the warm weather, the fish might move shallow. They didn't. My son and I couldn't buy a bite. I only saw a couple small panfish caught on the south side of the lake. Weeds were already thick and breaking the surface. Big fish of the derby was a 14" catfish followed by a 13" bass. It was pretty sad. Nice morning to be out though.

I had no idea they had catfish in Papoose! No crappies to be found? Like you say, at least it was a nice day to be out and thank you for the report.

I was wondering if the catfish was actually a big bullhead. There was at least one crappie caught. The PPPD people were really excited because five species of fish were caught: largemouth, bluegill, bullhead, catfish, crappie.
