I've been trying to get out for a while. This weather really has everything topsy turvey. Rain then cold followed by heat then cold and rain again. The poor fish can't catch a break to spawn. But my recent trip to my favorite lake proves one thing. Its the summer pattern already! There is no consistency out there. Here's and example: last weekend I took my friend to Shabbona to shakedown my new boat and get some crappies. Reports said that with the water warming that weekend, the crappie should be spawing. Water was 63 degrees when we launched and ended up with 2 small crappies! 35 boats were out and no one was catching crappie with consistency, just a couple here and there. Parasailing? I thought you could not do that on that lake, with all the boat traffic and such. Water in the north part of lake was muddy, these mid to south were stained. The deep trees across from the boat launch are no were in site, so be careful out there! At least my new boat functioned well.
