That lake scares me, it is deep one and it seems to take a long time to freeze solid. I would be careful with two inches, you go threw at Deep Quarry and your going down. I'll fish two inches if I am in four feet of water, but I don't think deep quarry has less than ten. I think most of the lakes are looking at four to six inches by now, be careful!

I just stoped by to check it. DCFP says you need 4 inches to ice fish preserve lakes and ponds, I don't know if they enforce it. I've marked 42 feet, still looking for the fabled 63 foot hole!

a friend of mine was out there last week and fell through luckily he got out. I'd say wait a couple of more weeks for deep quarry, at least til its 6 inches or better. Hate to hear about anyone losing their lives for being impatient....good luck y'all and be safe out there....

Middle to late January has been my experience. That lakes in my own backyard and I agree with Lovefishing it takes forever to freeze. You get about 6 to 8 weeks and then it starts to thaw. It looks promising but its a tough lake to fish any time of the eyear. I think your odds are better at Silver Lake in Blackwell. Be carful dude dont push the envelope there!

I would be very careful. I was there last Sunday and it was ALL open! The only evidence of ice was in little channels.

Even in the coldest weather, that place can have very varying ice thicknesses.

If you need to try it....there is shallow water flat(2-5fow) on west side just east of the backwater from west branch dupage river. Walking out a good 30-50yards or so and you will hit nice drop off.

Atitagain...I thought my flasher was wacked, I was drilling in that area and kept getting the three feet of water, dam flasher, I was ready to throw the thing out, then I dropped my weight and hit bottom at three feet, but I wouldn't venture out to look for that flat just yet, give it a week, at least.

Stopped there today there is still only about 2" of clear ice so we stayed away I stepped out next to the dock and cut a hole to check for sure because it was so clear. I think it will take a few more weeks for safe ice. Went and fished Pratt Wayne fp for a few hours caught fish but most were dinks one 9" crappie about 1/2 dozen gils about 7" were the best of the day.
