Guys and girls. People of all ages. We are going to have a little luncheon/get together on Saturday Aug 7th from 10 to 1pm at Blacwell forest preserve in Warrenville. We are going to have a few burgers and some hotdogs and basically a potluck luncheon. This is open to all chitown-anglers and guests. We are just going to hang out do a little fishing and shoot the breeze.
The main reason for this is to have a good time and to dedicate the plaque for Tim Matejka. The other reason is one that is close to all our hearts. Food/Drink and fishing.
Silver lake is open to boats (and they have rentals) and small craft. You CANNOT use your outboard though.
There are several ponds in blackwell for pan fishing as well.

If you can make it let me know. If you can bring a dish or something that would be welcome. If you don't know and decide you can make it at the last minute. GREAT!!! Once again everyone is welcome.

Hope to see you there.
:bday:

Dennis,

It is on my calendar.

I just might drag the boat over there and pay the $9 Non DuPage County resident daily boat launch fee. That is unless I can walk-on and fish with another CTA DuPage County resident with an annual boat permit that might be reading this. :winker

I assume Blackwell is like Shabbona in that you can use your outboard to get on and off the trailer, yes?

If I can make it, I'll figure out some kind of food to bring.

I'm going to bring hotdogs and probably some hamburgers. Chips and such. You guys can bring any sidedishes, sodas or whatever. It's just a picnic thing so whatever you would normally bring.

Bump (at least for the 24 hour section)

It'll be nice for Dylan to have a number since he is bringing grub... please respond for him. Even if you just want to stop by and say hi.

Alright folks. We have hotdogs, chips, potato salad, hamburgers, and I'm going to pick up a twelve of some grape or other soda. Looks like I'm going to be getting to the park a little early so that I can try to get a spot by the bench AND maybe score a picnic table close by.
The bench is here. The red spot is were the bench is.

Minnows are down the street from Blackwell at the Ace or for some Jumbo Roaches there's a Water Werks II down the road as well.

N9Phil, myself, and my son will be there, fishing out of my dad's Smokercraft. We'll bring a case of Pepsi and a case of Diet Pepsi in a cooler, plus whatever else catches my eye at the store tonight. I expect we'll be there when Blackwell opens an hour after sunrise.

I heard from Ed, that he was planning to be there fishing with his son out of his tin can as well.

I have one small weber grill (gas) that I'll be bringing. It works for dogs and burgers but I can't cook a lot with it. Does anyone else have a little grill they can bring just in case? If need be we can also use one of the park grills. I'll be bringing foil and such with me.

Took a look at the garden and decided I'll bring a vinegar and oil cucumber and tomato salad.

I'll throw my Camp Chef stove with grill attachment in the car, in case ya think we will need it.

Thanks Bearsfan. I'm going to be bringing some veggies from my garden as well. Some Tomatoes, and various peppers. I even have some ninja peppers I'll bring. They're Jalepeno's that are usually real mild. Sometimes though you get one that opens up a can of whoopin' on ya.

I picked up a few burgers, buns, and some Pot. salad. For soda's I have cherry pepsi, orange crush, root beer, and a few diet cokes. I'm bringing my ice chest but it's not huge.

About to head out to the park. Once again if anyone wants to come out and have a soda and a dog (or hamburger) with us. Everyone is welcome. Silver lake has some monster pike and the other regular suspects. There are two ponds one of which is catch and release for the little ones.

We had a great little picnic yesterday. We had a pretty good turnout. Twade, N9phil, and Bearsfan (w/son) were there representing Chitown-angler. We had quite a few other folks including Tim's (yukon_cowboy) parents and children. Twade's lovely wife and daughter came out. We had Tim's brothers and sisters as well. All in all a great time. The children had a great time catching gills. I'd like to thank Travis (Twade) for helping them keep bait on the hooks and taking fish off while I tended the charcoaler. I didn't have a lot of time to fish myself but from what I seen on the dock and such not a lot of big fishies were caught. We had enough food for an army of folks; unfortunately, we only had a platoon. It did get a little hot during the 12 to 1 timeframe so we started shutting down and were out of there by 1:30.

I for one am looking forward to some hardwater so that we can have our SECOND annual Happy Place outing. :fishice

Dylan I'll unload the camera and get some photo's up. I have been on the go since I walked away from the outting and I am finally getting a chance to relax. I think every kid got a fish so I am grateful. Bearsfan and Phil it was nice seeing you guys, we'll have to do it again.

Thanks again for hosting.
